Ten tips on writing a good resume !

As you all know this is the most basic thing you need before you can even be considered to enter an interview.I will share with you a few of the tips to the best of my knowledge to help you write a good resume to make it stand out from the rest.So lets get started

  1. Make sure there are no grammatical errors on your resume this can be a big negative point between you even being considered to attend an interview no matter how good you might be with your studies, previous job etc.
  2. Do not use anything like a pen to scratch over something thats not correct on a resume.Always get a new print out after making the necessary changes.
  3. Be Honest..this is a very important factor of resume writing if you end up writing things you have not done 9 out of 10 times you will not get the job. Why?The reason is simple when you go for an interview an employer will ask you in detail of what you have mentioned on your resume. So in this case if you have not done something mentioned in your resume you wont be able to answer those questions and will end up fumbling and this creates a negative impact.
  4. Dont have thousands of marks/folds on a resume before you submit it..Make sure its as straight as it can be instead of it being in two or three folds. No one likes a paper half torn/folded.Take an example of a bank they do not accept a cheque which is damaged or folded too much.
  5. This step is quiet important,if your not good with using microsoft word...There are many templates that are available for resume writing...Just search for them and create your resume.Where a simple resume is good a one with a creative template  would win more stars in front of the employer for you.

  6. Where as your friend's or anyone you know might have a very good resume its a big "NO" for you to end up copying everything from his/her resume!

  7. Use no negative/maybe terms on your resume...Try to create positivity through your resume by writing interesting things. This is not limited to only your studies, things you have done etc..Even when you write a hobby you can write something unique that you do that will catch the eye of the employer.

  8. When writing a resume make sure you have a standard font type, size of everything you are writing about,Dont end up writing a part of it as a bold italic and the other one totally different.Whereas this might be good someplace else but is considered quiet unprofessional in an industry..Its always recommended to write a resume  in a default black font and a white background. This might look to you as if its contradicting point 5 just to let you know point 5 is for template and this is for fonts!
  9. When you have more than one page of a resume make sure they are pin together/stapled.Even if the employer does not have a  problem with this.It will end up affecting you if they lost a page of your resume

  10. What im going to say now might end up being a debate,But i would always advise that you write your own resume rather than anyone else writing one for you.Whereas this does not cause a huge problem but atleast you will know everything about it!

I know these are quiet a few simple steps but go a long way between you and your job..Hope it helps!

Tips to get a good job appraisal

Before i start of this post let me make it very clear that im not against any management/employee neither do i want to degrade, demotivate or question anything any management from any company would do.My sole purpose of this post is to help a few individuals to get a good appraisal and i will just be discussing a few things i personally believe is a very important factor in getting a good appraisal

That being said have a look into the points below

Question yourself:

Look around you see how your colleagues are performing, what are they doing that you are not?Analyse anything before you put into action. The best part in the world is that god has given everyone a mind which no one else can see and no one else can know what your planning to do next use that to your advantage.Analyse how the toppers in your team are and take out the positives and implement them.Your style will end up making that unique

Are you assertive or arrogant?

There is a time in everyones life where you need to put your foot down and say something against someone that you believe is a fact. Now i have said this before and will say it again there is a very thin line between being arrogant and assertive so you will need to be very wise when you put your foot down. The best way to go about it would be being polite!

No one will like you saying things or terms where you dont allow the opposite person a chance for an argument and try to end the conversation saying its only you who is correct and no one else.

Are you polite to everyone around you?

This might somehow sound repetative to the post i have written just above but its actually not.Are you polite to everyone around you?

Its a known fact that to survive in an industry you need to bond with everyone in your team. Its just one bad relationship with any of your colleagues/management that may end up putting you into unnecessary trouble!

Are you able to handle stress?

Everyone will agree with me when i say stress gets into most of us.Ability to handle stress goes a long way and its a skill by itself which you need to learn by experience. The only recommendation to relive a bit of stress would be go out of your office during your breaks, listen to songs or if you have a mobile play games or anything you like. But always remember one thing when your on a break dont think about your work or anything that causes you stress as this will negate all the effect it will have!

Are your courteous enough:

This is again something i had to work on as i was not used to this.Being courteous is very simple for some but it can get quiet hard for someone who is not used to this atmosphere.Saying Please, thank you and welcome,Smiling at your colleagues from workplace walking by you all might seem simple but makes wonders to your personality.

Do you say "No" Too much?

A normal trend because of the workload these days is that we have to work long working hours and your boss might come up to you and ask you if you can do the work.If you say no this does not create a negative impact but is always considered in your flexibility

Patience is a virtue:

Remember appraisals happen once in a year and you will need to follow these steps all the time.It can be tough but once you learn this. You will find everyone loves you,Your management is happy with your performance, you might even be considered for a promotion.

Attitude is the key:

To sum up the above just remember that at the end of the day attitude is the key.Its always a wise decision to stay out of politics,be within company guidelines,he honest.let me reitrate a point here never use negative terms like No,I cannot ,I will not always be polite!

I hope this helps you out in achieving your goals and may you get tons of promotion following this !

Working Smart better than Working hard !!!!

Have you come across a situation where you are working hard but not getting anything in return but your colleagues are working pretty casually and are getting all the increments and respect that you deserve,if this is true its high time you start working smart but this does not mean you stop working hard as well.As you might have heard the saying that goes "Hard Work Always Pays" in someway or the other this was,is and will be the nature's rule.

Q.What does it mean working smart rather than working hard???
A.Well,The Answer is quiet simple if you start just working hard you would not be noticed as you will be busy with your work all the time, once this happens you automatically tend to ignore whats happening in your surroundings and in the society that we live in today's world you will end up being told that you have attitude, your egoistic etc etc.Bonding is a very important factor in todays world before you can go ahead and expect good things to happen to you,Whether it be your colleagues, your manager, your clients or whoever...If you are not in a position to have a good bonding with them, they will be the ones who will matter to speak on your behalf if things go bad. These days when you go to work you get all kinds of people who work with you,Some will be humble, backstabbers, practical,Frank. You need to be very careful while dealing with each and everyone of you because when i said you will find all kinds of people this list will also include your team leader and your team manager,Always remember if something does something bad to you dont retaliate make your work do the talking and try to bond with him/her to figure out what the problem is and solve it as quickly as you can depending on how long you and your colleagues/team leaders are on a different page thats the amount of time your work would be ignored and this will prove to be very unlucky if thats the time you have worked the best in your Career.Always be assertive and not arrogant while talking,Assertive is making your point known,Arrogant will result in you being very rude at times,Just remember one thing there is a very thin difference between being assertive and being arrogant so be very careful,Assertive just means putting your foot down in a polite way!!!

Learn to Say No:

This is one thing that i myself am not very good at till today as im still learning everyday,One thing which is very difficult to do in a corporate world is saying no.This can lead you to a dangerous position as if you overcommit and underperform you will end up being on the bad books once again no matter how hard you have performed until that and you will be judged so the best way to go about it is to undercommit just a little bit and Overperform.I would like to end by saying just the one thing here no matter how many HR'S are willing to say we will make sure things are in order or no matter how many Skip level meetings you have or how many complains you make if you are having a problem very rarerly you can expect a drastic measure will be taken so the only thing best for you to think if things are not going your way is "Survive".

Tips to impress an interviewer at a job interview

I am most of you reading this will either be done with your college or will be very close to it and in the near future will be attending a few interviews.Let me share with you a few tips which will help but does not guarantee  success until you really apply it and are focused.Trust me when you will read this you will end up saying its so simple and i never saw it.This is my personal experience.I still remember my first interview i was really nervous about it,I did not get the job but i  got a clue of what to expect for the next,When i went for my next interview i got selected.I wondered what i did different and found out how just a  few simple things made a huge impact between me being rejected in my first job and being accepted on the second job.Below i will write a few normal ethics you need to follow while you are going for an interview

  1. Do a background check on the company.By background check i mean check out what they do,How many branches they have,How many services they have to offer,These days almost every company has a website so if you do a google search you should not have a problem with finding its website and all the information.
  2. Have a clear mind before going for an interview,DO NOT ask from a employee working in the company  for any of the company's information as this is actually considered a breach, and if he is not sure about something it can lead to you knowing something that is incorrect.
  3. Always be at your best personality while performing in the interview as this makes a huge impact."Attitude" is something that will never work out in your favor. You need to treat the interviewer the way you need to be treated,
  4. When you are called upon for an interview be humble enough to knock on the door and open the door and always ask "Can i come in?" and then enter the room.
  5. Again when you enter the room dont just go and sit there go inside stand next to the seat and let the interviewer tell you to have a seat its silly but works out well!!!
  6. Always start with a greeting and sit in the position of the number four and not leisurely as this will show what kind of attitude you have
  7. When the interviewer asks you for your resume if you are nervous and shaking just slide the resume on the table rather than giving it in hand as this will reduce your points
  8. When asked about any questions be very positive try not to use the negative language such as i dont,i never,i do not,i hate, or keep it to the minimum.
  9. If you are having more than one interviewer make sure you have an eye contact with both of them time to time so one of them does not feel left out.
  10. Always be honest, outright and assertive when answering any questions.Just a point to remember there is a thin difference between being assertive and arrogant you need to know when to accept if your wrong.
