India Vs Australia 2013:1st test - Results,Review and Statistical Highlights

The series has started off with a well deserved victory to the Indian Cricket team.Ravichandran Ashwin and MS Dhoni took the game away from the Aussies with both of them performing splendidly.The Australians did well in the first innings but looked like they lost momentum when MS Dhoni came into bat in the Indian first innings and took the match away from them.

Full Statistical Highlights of India Vs Australia 1st Test 2013:

The Australians won the toss and chose to bat and with the help of David Warner,Michael Clarke and Moises Henriques who made 59,130 and 68 respectively they were able to post a decent first innings total of 380 runs.

Ravichandran Ashwin was the pick of the Indian bowlers and dismantled the Australian batting picking up 7 wickets in the first innings.

The first innings of the Indian Batting didn't start of well as they lost early wickets and at one stage were at a score of 12 for 2.The partnership between Cheteshwar Pujara and Sachin Tendulkar who made 44 and 81 runs respectively got the innings back on track and were followed by brilliant innings by Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni making 107 and 224 runs respectively.Dhoni's Double century was the highest ever by an Indian Wicket Keeper.

The Australian Second innings started off roughly with them loosing wickets at regular intervals and Ravichandran Ashwin once again created havoc picking up 5 wickets and was well Supported by Ravindra Jadeja and Harbhajan Singh who picked up 3 and 2 wickets respectively.However by the time the Australian innings wrapped up they attained a lead of 49 runs and India needed 50 runs to win

In the second innings India once again lost both their openers and it was cheteshwar Pujara and Sachin Tendulkar who were not out at 8 and 13 runs respectively and won the match for India by 8 wickets.

MS Dhoni was adjudged the player of the match for his 224 runs in the first innings.
