South Vs Pakistan 2013 2nd Test:Results,Review and Statistical highlights

The second test match of South Africa Vs Pakistan 2013 ended with South Africa winning by Four wickets.Even though the Pakistan team showed great resilience making a comeback in the first innings from a very tough position of 33 for 4 to reach a score of 338 the South African Cricket team really gave a tough fight and deserved a victory.

Statistical Highlights of South Africa Vs Pakistan 2013 2nd test:

South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl and were in a commanding position when the Pakistan team was at a score of 33 for four in the first innings.However Younis Khan and  Asad Shaqid batted splendidly with both making a score of 111 runs.South African bowling struggled a bit with these two batsman but apart from these two no one was even able to get a start.In either case Pakistan got to a score of 338 runs in their first innings which was quite a respectable total.Vernon Philander was phenomenal picking up 5 wickets.

When South Africa came into bat they were ok until Saeed Ajmal came into bowl.The inital 5 wickets were taken by him which got South Africa reeling at a score of 109 for 5.AB De villiers and Robin Peterson then steadied the ship making 61 and 84 runs respectively taking the South African first innings total to 326.As i said earlier the bowling was dominated by Saeed Ajmal taking 6 wickets for the Pakistan team.Mohammed Irfan was also impressive on his debut taking 3 wickets.

Pakistan in their second innings had a horrible start once again with both the openers Mohammed Hafeez and Naseer Jamshed failing once again.At one stage they were at a score of 45 for 3.Azhar Ali and Misbah-Ul-Haq steadied the ship this time around making 65 and 44 respectively.After they both were out the Pakistan team crumbled to a score of 169 runs setting up a target of 182 for South Africa to win.Dale Steyn,Vernon Philander and Robin Peterson were the pick of the bowlers picking up 3,4 and 3 wickets respecting.

South African second innings saw them in a spot of bother when they lost Jaques Kallis at a score of 88 but AB De villiers and Hashim Amla made 36 and 58 runs respectively and made sure they laid the foundation for the South Africans to win comfortably by 4 wickets.

Robin Peterson was the match of the match for his 84 in the first innings and 3 wickets in the second innings.
