4.0 Earth Quake shakes New England

earthquake

A 4.0 Magnitude earth quake occurred at 7:12 p.m. on October 16th in New England, the U.S. Geological Survey confirmed. Initially, magnitude of the earth quake was said to be as 4.6, but later was downgraded it to 4.0.In either case, New England is not used to any Earth quakes as they seldom get one.

Barbara Reigelhaupt along with her husband who recently moved to a new second-floor condo in South Portland, adjacent to Portland are both earthquake veterans -- they lived in the Los Angeles area for seven years but have been in Maine since 1984.When the earthquake struck, she was at home.Reigelhaupt told The Times“We experienced significant shaking,” “And the only time I remember an earthquake in L.A. was when we were sitting in the movie theater in Santa Monica.

A few people also said that they heard a rumbling sound before the earth quake struck. This sounds scary but the good news is there were no reports of damage or injuries immediately after the quake. Thank god for that.
