Halo 4 makes 220 million dollars in 24 hours

This was expected wasn't it?After being the most anticipated game for Xbox 360 it has been confirmed that within just 24 hours of release this game has already made $220 million and is on route to reach $300 million in the global sales for the first week.


Halo 4  overtook one of the earlier halo installment Halo: Reach, which made $200 million on its first day in US and Europe.Halo 4 also raced past 2007's Halo 3, which earned  $170 million in 24 hours in US. Microsoft confirmed the total earnings of the Halo franchise as about $3.38 billion until now.


Microsoft further stated halo 4 as the "biggest entertainment launch of the year" until now however it will be interesting to know how long that record lasts as Call of Duty: Black Ops II has also been breaking retailer records and is due to release.

The US Box office tallies of  the first day of hit movies Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 and The Avengers was also overtaken by Halo 4,confirmed Microsoft

In addition to the above this epic game created a franchise record for most players at launch.4 million plus halo 4 players spent time in the game within the first five days, spending approximately 31.4 million hours in game. This makes the total gameplay hours "well beyond" five billion across all Halo titles, Microsoft said.

Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn Web series is not too far behind as it has got 46 million total views till date, confirmed microsoft.As per microsoft,39 million of these views came through Machinima's YouTube channel alone.

There was a bit of a rumor that the game will make its way to release on PC but Microsoft made an official statement about this game remaining exclusive to Xbox 360  and confirmed they had no such plans.Whatever the case maybe the amount of love this game has got its not a bad thought getting an Xbox 360 this holiday season.
