The Legend of the Sitar passes away

Pandit Ravi Shankar who is considered as one of the best Sitar Maestro has sadly passed away in San Diego, near his Southern California home as he was suffering from upper respiratory and heart problems and had also undergone heart-valve replacement surgery last week.He was 92 years old.

He was also known as the one who introduced traditional ragas to the western audiences.The last musical performance he was involved in was on November 4th with his daughter Anoushka Shankar Wright who is also a sitarist. A night before his surgery he had come to know that he was nominated for an award.

Pandit Ravi Shankar had won many awards in the past and will always be remembered as one of the best classical sitar player.
