Tim Southee in the last year has been the best New Zealand pace bowler. He was recently in good form against the Sri Lankan's as well.He sustained the injury while diving in the field during a match between Northern Districts and Wellington at Karori Park .He scored 156 off 130 balls and took seven wickets in Northern Districts' six-wicket win.He has been ruled out for 6-8 weeks and will commence rehabilitation immediately following the procedure.
New Zealand will dearly miss him as he was the one bowler who constantly troubled the batsman in the recent test series against Sri Lanka.
Brendon McCullam who recently became the captain of the team after a huge controversy surrounding the removal of Ross Taylor as the New Zealand captain will have a task on his hands as this comes as a big blow to the New Zealand bowling unit against a very strong South African side which will be raring to go.
