Facewash helps remove unwanted content from Facebook

Facewash an application that helps Facebook users to remove vulgar or embarrassing pages from their personal profile has been developed by the Kent State university.The Application will go through a user's Facebook activity and content for items that the user may want to hide or delete.

This might include status updates, photo captions, and comments users left or received and the pages and links that were liked, 'Los Angeles Times' reported.Researcher Daniel Gur created the Facewash over the weekend with a couple of his friends and a couple of computer science majors Camden Fullmer, and David Steinberg. The application was said to be built in less than two days at the hackathon at the University of Pennsylvania.

To use Facewash, users first need to access the website, Facewa.sh and click "Get Started" and log into their Facebook account if they aren't logged in already.

The users will then get an option to click  "Go to App" and to give the app permission to access the user's contents as the normal applications do.Users can then Search for a term and the app will start looking through all the users profile content.If Facewash finds a match  it will show it to the user along with a link to the posts so the user can easily delete a status or remove a picture.

There are however a few glitches in Facewash as it is in a beta phase.However many consider this as a good option as the app has already received more than 20,000 unique visitors, Gur said.The developers however hope to keep expanding new features to Facewash including adding new languages.
